Work alongside migrant and precarious workers.

Fight.
IAVGO has been fighting alongside injured migrant workers for many years. Our community partners at Justicia for Migrant Workers have allowed us to connect with migrant workers, who are among the workers most vulnerable to injury, illness, racism and abuse at work.
-
Build.
Over the past two decades, IAVGO has learned about the barriers facing injured migrant workers - barriers to health care, barriers to compensation, barriers to justice. We have fought to remove these and to support workers in demanding change from the WSIB and government.
-
Win.
Four of IAVGO’s clients fought and won huge changes to improve access to workers’ compensation benefits. These changes mean that some migrant workers will get access to workers’ compensation support. But many workers have been left out and we demand that all injured workers be treated fairly.
“After being hailed as essential workers to protect Canada’s food system, our workers’ compensation system abdicates its responsibility to them"
